Bridging Borders Through Music: NAMA Welcomes Taurai’s Artistic Journey Home

The National Association of Media Arts (NAMA) Secretary General, Abel Silungwe, attended the official media briefing for the release of Taurai’s Intellectual Property (IP) and the launch of his music in Zambia, marking an important moment in the artist’s growing career and the continued development of Zambia’s creative industry.

The event, held in Lusaka, attracted key stakeholders from across the arts and entertainment sector. Among those in attendance were Taurai’s management team, National Arts Council Chairperson Maureen Lilanda, National Arts Council Assistant Director for Literary Arts Mwiche Chikungu, Zambia Association of Musicians President Brian Bwembya, the Zambia Association of Fashion Designers Secretary General, and representatives from various media institutions.

Speaking during the briefing, Mr. Silungwe highlighted the importance of artists affiliating themselves with professional arts associations recognized by government institutions. He noted that such affiliations are essential in ensuring artists receive proper representation, protection, mentorship, and industry support throughout their careers.

He further reaffirmed NAMA’s commitment to supporting Taurai, a UK-born Zambian artist, by helping facilitate the production of high-quality music videos and promoting his artistic journey both locally and internationally.

Mr. Silungwe also used the occasion to encourage Zambian creatives in the diaspora to reconnect with their roots and contribute to the growth of the country’s entertainment industry.

“We have a rich culture and talent pool in Zambia. Let’s work together to promote our artists globally,” he said.

The event marked a significant milestone for Taurai as he officially introduced his music and intellectual property portfolio to the Zambian market. It also reflected the growing collaboration between artists, arts organizations, and industry stakeholders working collectively to elevate Zambia’s creative sector.
